Are you new to using essential oils? If so, you might be a little intimidated or nervous about using them. There are many things to remember, true. But we will cover some basics right now. The oil bottle labels will show how each oil should be used.
Oils can be used in different ways:
Ideal for emotional and respiratory support and cleaning the air. Inhale from an open bottle, rub a drop of oil between the palms and inhale, or diffuse.
Ideal for areas of discomfort or irritation, immune boost. Apply 1-2 drops to the effected area or to the bottoms of feet. Some oils can be used without dilution, but many cannot. Dilute them by adding a drop or 2 to a teaspoon of a carrier oil like coconut or olive oil. Water does not dilute essential oils.
Ideal for digestive upset, supporting immune system. Ingest 1 drop of an oil in a capsule, under the tongue, in drinking water or add to recipes. doTERRA brand oils are safe for consumption but not all oils are safe to use this way. If you are using other oils make sure they are 100% pure essential oils and not aromatherapy grade oils. If you are pregnant, breast feeding or have liver or immune diseases, talk to your doctor about ingesting.
Do NOT ingest arborvitae, cedarwood, cypress, eucalyptus, white fir, or wintergreen.
Keep oils out of reach of children and pets. Do not use in the eyes or ear canal or on mucous membranes. If irritation occurs, apply a carrier oil. Do not add water. Citrus oils and blends containing them can increase sun sensitivity; allow at least 12 hours between application and exposing skin to the sun.
Protect Your Precious Pets
Pets can enjoy essential oils too, but there are some that are not recommended.
