Treats & Splurges from Trader Joe’s…

I am a BIG fan of Trader Joe’s for all sorts of products, but one special thing they have going for their customers are some great beauty deals. Trader Joe’s is one of those places that is more like a lifestyle than just a grocery store.

They’ve done a magical job of making it feel like you want to splurge and treat yourself the moment you walk in and yet it won’t really be a splurge because there are so many deals to be had. Yep, even in quality beauty supplies.

Beauty and Skin Care

Today’s post will be about the inexpensive, yet luxurious skin care products you can find at Trader Joe’s and some other DIY options. You know I’m a fan of DIY. 🙂 Hopefully one day soon it will be easier to pop in to Trader Joe’s and get those deals!

Most TJ Private Label products are paraben & sulfate-free, and never tested on animals. They are also less expensive than high end beauty products because they don’t have pricey marketing campaigns. I love you Trader Joes.

Blueberry Açaí Facial Scrub

Blueberry Acai Facial Scrub: This one sounds lovely and quite purple. Blueberry and Acai, both full of antioxidant properties and alpha-hydroxy acids, a total steal at $5.99. The AHAs make the skin photosensitive though, so take care in the sun. Blueberries are full of Vitamins A, C and E and are anti-inflammatory and neutralize oil production in the skin. Acai berries are full of these vitamins as well and also contain plenty of good fatty acids that revives skin. Of course, just eating these berries will help the body and the skin!

Boost skin plumping with hyaluronic moisture.

Trader Joe’s Nourish Hyaluronic Moisture Boost Serum

These two have caught my eye! I love Neutrogena’s Hydroboost Water Gel. If I had not decided to do this blog post I might not have known about this amazing deal at Trader Joe’s though. In fact, I kind of want to run over there right now and buy it! You can read all about Trader Joe’s Nourish Hyaluronic Moisture Boost Serum in their Joe Up Glow Up roundup.

Trader Joe’s Ultra Hydrating Gel Moisturizer

The amazing hyaluronic acid in these products creates the skin plumping moisture that I love. I personally love this stuff because I have always had dry skin and it has sadly become even dryer with age. For awhile now I’ve been using mostly oils like coconut and jojoba combined with essential oils in my beauty routine.

I find this is working well for me, but I am sometimes missing that plump I get with hyaluronic acid. I also notice a difference in my skin when I exfoliate with raw honey, drink lots of water and get good rest. They call it “beauty rest” for a reason!

DIY Serums? Does That Work?

Yes! You can also make your own serum. I’ve not done this yet, but one of my favorite blogs is Mommypotamus and they have shared a well reviewed recipe for DIY Hyaluronic Acid Serum.

This product, made by Resurrection Beauty has instructions and recipes on their website.

I’ve included the link to the serum powder here. For the entire recipe please visit

If you’re not interested in DIY serums, you can find the Neutrogena Hydroboost Products here.  Neutrogena hydro water gel is paraben free. It is also sulfatefree, alcohol-free, silicone-free and EU allergen-free too!
